July 7th- July 18th

Cartoons on Parade (Ages 5-6) Have you ever wanted to be a cartoon character? In this class you will learn about theatre by acting out your favorite cartoon characters.  You’ll create your own script, design and build your own cartoon costumes, props and sets, and produce your own live action cartoon play.  You will also get to perform the play that you created for your family and friends at the end of your session!

From Page to Stage (Ages 6-8) Do you like pretending you are Amelia Bedelia, Madeline, Eloise, Luke Skywalker, Kermit the Frog, Hulk or Spider man, and others? This is the class for you! Bring your favorite books to class and write your own play based on your favorite characters.  At the end of your session, you will get to perform your play for friends, family and fellow book lovers.

Hooray for Hollywood (Ages 8-10) It’s your first day on the set and it’s up to you to write your own movie, cast it and watch as the director yells, “CUT!” Lights, camera, ACTION! This class gives children an opportunity to be a movie star.  Create your own play based on your favorite movie; design and build your own Hollywood set (back lot), props and costumes.  At the end of your session, you will perform your move play in front of your family and friends. The Junie B. Jones Theatre (Two classes will be held for Ages 6-8 and 8-10) For beginners who love to create! This class will focus on character development, basic acting techniques, and creativity with a blast. If your child is new to theatre, this is the perfect class filled with theatre games, improve, exploration of color, rhythm, sound and texture – an experience that will build self-esteem and teach your child how to think outside the box. Let’s Make a Movie - For Pre-Teens (Ages 9-11) Write a script and get busy creating the video of your dreams!  Learn all there is to know about making a movie - casting, costumes, props, designing a set, and more. At the end of your session, your movie will be premiered at the final performance for families and friends! This class is an additional $25 for a DVD copy of the finished film.

Let’s Make a Movie - For Teens (Ages12 & Up) Have you ever wondered how to make your own movie?  Take this class and we’ll teach you how to conceptualize, storyboard, write, produce, direct, act and edit your own film.  Today’s technology often teaches young people the skills needed to make simple movies at an early age.  Join us as we embark on creating the next Spielberg. SPECIAL “GREAT THEATRE PERFORMANCES” CLASS: Intro to Musical Theatre (Ages 6 -10, student must be able to read) Learn the basics of acting, singing and dancing with a Broadway style review at the conclusion of your two weeks here at Magik Theatre.  If you’ve ever wanted to sing, dance and act, this is your perfect chance to learn from The Magik Theatre professionals.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE HANNAH MONTANA IS HIDING? : A Mystery  (Ages 10-12) Hannah Montana is appearing in San Antonio.  Suddenly her manager realizes she is missing.  Join us as students search for Hannah Montana.  As the concert draws closer someone, maybe everyone, may have to take her place.

TEEN REP (Ages 12 and Up) A chance for young people who are serious about theatre to work together on a play.  Each class will begin by reading a group of plays which have been chosen to stretch your ability and imagination.  The Teen Rep will work together on either an American classic play or create their own classic.
