July 21st- August 1st

Let’s Visit the Animal Fair (Ages 5-6) This class takes a trip to the zoo to meet some of literature’s favorite animals like Olivia, the Pig, The Velveteen Rabbit, the characters from Where The Wild Things Are and many other!  Let your imagination soar as you turn into friendly giraffes, talking spiders or mischievous hippos. Royalty and Scalliwags – Princesses, Princes and Pirates (Ages 6-8) Have your parents read the classic fairytales to you about princes, princesses, pirates, dragons, wizards and witches? Now’s your chance to save the princess or lead the way to the buried treasure (or is that save the pirate and find the princess?) in a play written by you! At the end of your session, you will get to perform your play for friends, family and all the princesses, princes and pirates at heart!

Supermen and Superwomen (Ages 6-8) Study the adventures of your favorite Supermen and Superwoman, and create your own superheroes! Learn acting skills by creating the character you’d most like to be or create a new superhero.  Write you own SUPERPLAY where you get to play the part of your life.  Create your own Super sets, Super props and Super costumes to perform your Super Action Comedy in front of family and friends! Return to Narnia (Ages 8-10) Based on the stories of C.S. Lewis, this class explores everything having to do with the mystical world of Narnia.  We will discuss and examine the meaning of Lewis’ amazing story and the film that followed.  We will create our own production of Narnia, complete with costumes, sets and fantasy props. The Return of Harry Potter (Ages 10-12) There may not be any more books left, but that shouldn’t matter if we use our imagination! This time it’s OUR turn to imagine what we would do if we were creating the world of Harry Potter and his friends.  Join us on Track 9 ¾ for a special trip back to Hogwarts where we’ll imagine and create a show about what happens after the last book.  At the end of your session, you will get to perform your play for friends, family and fellow Potter lovers!

SPECIAL “GREAT THEATRE PERFORMANCES” CLASS: Intro to Musical Theatre  (Ages 11 and up, student must be able to read) Learn the basics of acting, singing and dancing with a Broadway style review at the conclusion of your two weeks here at Magik Theatre.  If you’ve ever wanted to sing, dance and act, this is your perfect chance to learn from The Magik Theatre professionals.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE HANNAH MONTANA IS HIDING?: A Mystery  (Ages 8-10) Hannah Montana is appearing in San Antonio.  Suddenly her manager realizes she is missing.  Join us as students search for Hannah Montana.  As the concert draws closer someone, maybe everyone, may have to take her place.

Tuck Everlasting (Ages 12 & Up) – Based on the award winning novel by Natalie Babbit.  This beautiful book is the wondrous story of the Tuck family who have accidentally discovered a stream of water that gives them eternal life.  First a wonderful book, then a great film and now a heart warming play. This experience should be one that touches the students in this class forever.  Find out if living forever is really worth the price!  A final performance of this straight play (non-musical) will be performed for your family and friends on the last week of your session.
